WORK OPPORTUNITIES IN NEW ZEALAND

Working while studying can be a good way to gain New Zealand work experience and help support you while you’re studying abroad.New Zealand has a wide range of industries that offer part-time and casual work. Some educational institutions also offer students part-time work teaching, tutoring or carrying out administrative duties.

Paid internships are a way of gaining industry experience and networking with people in your field of study. Carrying out voluntary work in New Zealand can also be a great addition to your CV, giving you useful experience of the New Zealand workplace.

WORK WHILE YOU STUDY:

International students who decide to study in New Zealand are eligible to work upto 20 hours per week during the academic year. Students can work full time (40 hrs) only during the summer holidays.

The average wage for part time jobs is NZ$20 and above per hour.

International students who have graduated from a course in New Zealand that would gain points under the Skilled Migrant Category may apply for a graduate job search visa. Eligible student’s partner may apply for a work permit, valid for the duration of the study course.

POST STUDY WORK VISA:

A Post-study work visa lasts for 1, 2 or 3 years depending on the level of your qualification and where you studied.

New Zealand Education is a strong pathway leading to migration opportunities.

All students successfully completing a Diploma, Degree, PG course gain points towards Skilled Migrant category for Permanent Residency.

On gaining a job offer within the period of job search, students can either apply for a 2 years Work Permit or Permanent Residency depending on their eligibility for SMC.

Masters in New Zealand for international students not only helps them, but their spouses as well. Students going for postgraduate courses or for courses listed in the immediate or long term skill shortage could accompany on a work permit.

Living Expenses:

Students who study in New Zealand can choose from Halls of Residence, Students Hostels, Dormitories, Homestay private apartments and flats. These may approximately range from NZ$ 15,000 - 18,000 Per annum. This includes food, clothing, transport, entertainment and accommodation. Visa authorities expect a provision of NZ$ 15,000 towards living expenses.
